Mechanical Thinking

Difference between machines and humans?

Do you think a machine can jump out of the norm?

What does a machine need to have its own intelligence?

How do you make a machine be able to choose?

Is it possible for a machine to have feelings?

"No one knows where the borderline between non intelligent behavior and intelligent behavior lies"

Discussion about building a machine of a cockroach.

Why? What's the purpose of doing it?\

In a complex system like us humans, memory is very important.

Models are simplified representations of reality, they are not true or false, they are useful or non useful.

Human understanding is inseparable from participating in a culture.

CHAPTER 2

Do you think mathematics is just a language?

What's an axeom?

What's a theorem?

What is a formal system? How can we define it?

Formal systems would be some kind of a container of reality.

Chess is an example of a formal system, you have different symbols (queen, knight, bishop) and rules of how and where to move the pieces.

Formal systems are not true or false, they are useful or not useful.

Formal system: Formal representation of something with rules. There is nothing to understand in formal systems, it's all about how you use them.

If you make a model too complex it probably won't be useful.

Other formal systems: In the TRIVIUM, logic is a formal system.
