The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

HABIT 1: Be Proactive

- "Take initiative in life by realizing that your decisions are the primary  factor for effectiveness in your life. Take responsibility for your choices and the consequences that follow"

- This habit is too important. In order to be successful in our lives we need to be proactive and effective by doing stuff. Taking this initiative is the key towards achieving.

HABIT 2: Begin with the end in mind

- "Self-discover and clarify your deeply important character values and life goals. Envision the ideal characteristics for each of your various roles and relationships in life."

- This habit is the one that was supposed to help me throughout the MPC but I guess I still have things to learn. This is key for the MPC because if you begin with the end in mind, the last few weeks of the semester shouldn't be as a crazy as they have been before.

HABIT 4: Think Win-Win

- "Genuine feelings for mutually beneficial solutions or agreements in your relationships. Value and respect people by understanding a "win" for all is ultimately a better long-term resolution than if only one person in the situation had got his way."

- Always walk around with a positive thinking attitude, or how Covey call is, a WIN-WIN, which I think is more understandable. This has helped me a lot for when I am stressed about the amount of work I have to do. You won't get anywhere with a negative and winy attitude.

HABIT 5: Seek first to understand, then to be understood

"Use empathic listening to be genuinely influenced by a person, which compels them to reciprocate the listening and take an open mind to being influenced by you. This creates an atmosphere of caring, and positive problem solving"

- I remember I wrote a reflection about this a couple of days ago. I wrote that it's really important to leave assumptions behind when we are listening to somebody. We will never know if we agree or disagree with the other person if we don't truly listen and then understand what they are trying to say to us.

HABIT 6: Synergize

- "Combine the strengths of people through positive teamwork, so as to achieve goals no one person could have done alone."

- I really like this one since I think is directly related to the MPC, more specifically to our Great Works. We all have different talents and different projects for the MPC, but in the end it's amazing how all of them could use one of the others for their own. Everything is related. Serendipity!!! YEAH!

HABIT 7: Sharpen the Saw

- "Balance and renew your resources, energy, and health to create a sustainable, long-term, effective lifestyle. It primarily emphasizes exercise for physical renewal, prayer (meditation, yoga, etc.) and good reading for mental renewal. It also mentions service to society for spiritual renewal"

- This is the habit I have more trouble with because I lack organisation skills specially with my time management. I haven't done exercise in a long time and that is why I'm so stressed and tire all of the time. It is very important to keep your physical and emotional states balanced.
